James Phillips has been making art his whole life. His formal training started at the Art Center College of Design in Pasadena in 1968, but the curiosity that drives his work started long before that and hasn't slowed down since.
 

He works in acrylic on canvas, and over the decades he's developed several distinct styles and techniques. His paintings are bold and compositionally driven, and if you've followed his work over time, you can see an artist who remains genuinely engaged and is clearly having fun with it.
 

His work has been shown in galleries and art shows across Europe and North America, and collected by people throughout the Coachella Valley. These days he's based in the Perez Art District, where his gallery is a regular stop on the monthly art walk.
